Hi there. I’m Felicity, a primary school teacher living in Sydney, Australia. I’m really pleased you stopped by and hope you’ll find something to interest and inspire you.
Before I became a teacher, I travelled a bit and worked in a variety of different professions, mostly in marketing roles. Teaching-wise, I've worked across all primary grades in a number of different schools in northern Sydney and have taught EAL/D learners from Kindy to Year 6.
In 2019, I'm working as a casual/relief/supply teacher by choice. I am involved in a few different projects (not teaching-related) and I wanted to have time to work on these and to practise yoga so working 2-3 days a week works well for me. I love being in the classroom with the children while also having the freedom to work as often or as little as I wish and my goal this year has been to be the best replacement teacher I can be.
If you're a teacher, you'll know there are lots of blogs and websites out there providing a bewildering number of resources, lesson ideas, activities and plans to busy teachers. Some of these are free and some you have to pay for. On this blog, I plan to include the lessons that have worked well for me and to offer them to you without payment. Where I recommend a book and provide a link to a website where the book is available to buy, I will receive a small payment if you choose to buy it. This is at no cost to you. I will only ever recommend books I've used and found helpful.
My aim with this website is to provide lesson ideas which are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and with the NSW syllabi in English, Maths, History, Geography and Science. Many of the lessons and activities I share here will help you address outcomes across the curriculum. Worksheets, Powerpoint presentations and links to useful YouTube clips are included where relevant and appropriate. I also suggest modifications for EAL/D learners in your classroom.
I really enjoy planning lessons and activities which make learning interesting, relevant and fun for my students. That’s my mantra. As I’m planning lessons, I’m constantly thinking about those three things. I believe in sharing the good so feel free to use any of the ideas you find here. I hope they work well for you and that your kiddos enjoy them.
So, me. I love reading, Australian history, travelling and connecting with people, in person and via this amazing tool we call the internet. I live with my husband, my twin sons (23), my daughter (20) and our mini-schnauzer, Einstein.
