- look for three reliable websites, books or articles;
- choose the most reliable and read it;
- read it again, writing down the most important point you have learnt from each paragraph;
- read the other two resources;
- reflect on the points made in the two articles: do they reflect the same content as the points in the first article?
- write down any important points that were not mentioned in the first article;
- if there is anything in one article that contradicts anything in one of the other articles, write it down;
- think again about which article you think is the most reliable. Why do you think this?
- re-read the most reliable article, checking the points you have recorded as being the most important information from the article. Have you written down everything you think is important?
Note: writing down the most important points does not mean writing word-for-word what is written in the article. Summarise.
Summarising a paragraph:
- read the paragraph;
- out loud or in your head, say what the paragraph is about in one sentence;
- write the sentence;
