eal/d teaching resources
As a new EAL/D teacher in 2016, I had to learn on the job. Fortunately, I had some wonderful and very experienced EAL/D colleagues at the big primary school in Sydney in which I was working. Little by little I discovered that there are many resources out there for EAL/D teachers, however, they were hard to find and many of the teachers I knew were not aware of them. Many are state-based and I think there are lots of us out there re-inventing the wheel because there is no effective mechanism for sharing the resources we create.
I've tried to keep this list simple. Some of the resources out there are not great and there's a lot of repetition so I've only included the resources I've found most helpful.
If you are on Facebook, I highly recommend joining a page called EAL/D Teachers' Network - TESOL. It's for primary and secondary teachers and you will find good advice and some fantastic teaching ideas there.
Also, sites like Twinkl and Teachstarter have some good resources for EAL/D learners. They are aways adding new resources to these pages and I highly recommend investing in a subscription to one or both of these sites.
